USA beat Olympic champions Japan to win Softball gold at The World Games

With over 10,000 fans packed into the Hoover Met Stadium, the USA Softball Women’s National Team proved victorious at The World Games 2022, after a closely-fought Olympic re-match against Japan resulting in a narrow 3-2 win for the home team.

The US defence shone in yesterday’s win, working its way out of three intense innings with Japanese runners in scoring positions, while allowing only two runs to cross home plate despite Japan’s combined eight hits.

Janae Jefferson scored the first three runs of the game, and it was enough to see the US through for the win. Team USA overturned the result from Tokyo last summer, where they won Olympic silver to Japan's gold. This time they take the spoils, and Japan come up short to take silver.

Chinese Taipei won bronze after beating Australia 6-0 earlier in the day. All the streams for The World Games can be found here.
