Discipline at The World Games 2025: Duathlon
Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg in a multisport format similar to triathlons (with the swim replaced by a run). There are various lengths of race, usually ‘sprint’ or ‘standard’, and it can be held on-road (asphalt surfaces) or off-road (running and mountain-biking on trails), called Cross Duathlon.
The standard TWG event is on-road: a run of 10km, then a 44 km cycling stage, and finally a 5 km run. The World Games 2025 is the second time Duathlon has been in the official sports programme of the Games.
In Duathlon as in Triathlon, good organization of equipment and clothing in the transition zone is important in saving both time and energy switching between disciplines, enabling athletes to concentrate fully on the competition challenge.
At The World Games there are classes for men and women, as well as a 4-leg, 2X2 Mixed Relay (1 man, 1 woman per team) where the distances are shorter.
