Excitement is mounting across the city as Hong Kong prepares to host the inaugural leg of The World Games Series (TWG Series) from 11-13 October 2024. This landmark event, which will be the first of its kind, has already sparked tremendous enthusiasm among athletes, organisers, and the media alike.
The Hong Kong National Federations of Cheerleading, Wushu and of Roller Sports attended this press conference, while three celebrity roller athletes took part in the celebrations a made a demonstration during the event: Mr. Zhang Hao, 24, Ms Zhu Siyi, 18, and Ms Su Feiqian, 26, all multiple title-holders and champions in their discipline.
The press conference was notably attended by key members of the Chengdu 2025 Local Organising Committee, alongside representatives from Hong Kong, including Sun Zhaomin, Deputy Director-General Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Lau Chun, Raistlin, Under Secy for Culture, Sports and Tourism of Culture of the HKSAR, Gu Xuebin, Standing Committee Member and Publicity Director-General of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, the LOC Deputy Secretary-General and ExCo Executive Vice President of TWG 2025 Chengdu, Hon Kenneth FOK Kai-kong, JP, member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR (the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication functional constituency), Mr Eric Fok, advisor of the Local Organising Committee of The World Games Series 2024 Hong Kong and a respected politician.
The event held on 7 August marked a significant milestone, with high attendance from top media outlets across Hong Kong, demonstrating the keen interest and support for this prestigious event. The TWG Series promises to bring a thrilling spectacle to the city, featuring three dynamic sports: Cheerleading (ICU) with Pom, Roller (World Skate) with Freestyle Inline, and Wushu (IWUF) with Taolu.
A total of 88 elite athletes (44 men and 44 women) are set to compete in Hong Kong, each vying for coveted qualification spots for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu from 7-17 August.
The competitions will take place at the state-of-the-art Hong Kong GO PARK Sai Sha, where athletes will showcase their skills and determination in front of an eager audience.

Among the highlights of the competition, athletes will compete for qualification in the following categories:
- Cheerleading Pom Doubles: 1 couple
- Roller Inline Freestyle Slalom Classic: 1 man and 1 woman
- Roller Inline Freestyle Slalom Freestyle: 1 man and 1 woman
- Wushu Taolu: 3 men and 3 women
The World Games World Series strong presence at the press conference signals widespread interest and anticipation for the upcoming event. With extensive coverage expected, the TWG Series in Hong Kong is poised to capture the attention of sports fans both locally and globally in the lead up to The World Games.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
