IWGA Media & Communication Workshop achieves record participation as enthusiasm builds for TWG 2025 Chengdu

Lausanne, Switzerland – 28 November 2024 – The International World Games Association (IWGA) has wrapped up a successful Media & Communication Workshop at the World Archery Excellence Centre, welcoming an unprecedented number of delegates. 90 participants from International Member Federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Sports Organisations (NSOs), and other key partners and special guests, engaged in two days of strategic discussions and sessions focused on amplifying the global profile of The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.

This year’s workshop adopted once more a dynamic hybrid format, allowing wider access and inclusion, with delegates attending both in person (60 people) and virtually (30) from across the globe. Notably, the record-breaking attendance from NOCs and NSOs (15) highlights the positive impact of the recent Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed with these organisations.

The enthusiasm for The World Games 2025 was palpable, with delegates sharing insights and innovations for enhanced broadcasting, digital content creation, and visibility strategies to bring this multi-sport event to new heights.

Tom Dielen, IWGA Vice President, who hosted the event at the state-of-the-art Archery Centre, noted in his opening remarks,"The countdown to Chengdu is well underway, and it’s inspiring to see so many dedicated individuals working together with shared passion and purpose. The high level of participation at this year’s workshop underscores the commitment of our partners and Member Federations to make The World Games 2025 an echoing success."

Workshop sessions covered a broad range of topics including broadcasting, digital and communication strategies, and tailored marketing for the Chinese audience. Highlights included the session led by the Chengdu Local Organising Committee on media operations and services, insights from the International Sports Broadcasting (ISB), host broadcaster of TWG 2025, and a compelling panel on content creation led by renowned international athletes, Julia Rick (GER, Wakeboarding) and Ebiye Jeremy Udo-Udoma (USA, Beach Handball). The participation of World Aquatics and Redtorch as special invitees highlighted the growing awareness of the IWGA and its flahship event.

Reflecting the excitement around this workshop, ExCo Member and IWGA Marketing & Media Committee Chair John Liljelund said, "This record attendance at the workshop shows the energy and enthusiasm that surrounds The World Games 2025 in Chengdu. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration across our federations and partners as we look forward to hosting an unforgettable event that will showcase incredible talent and innovation in sport. It feels great to have all our stakeholders on board!"

The IWGA looks forward to the continued support and collaboration of its IFs, NOCs-NSOs, and other key partners in the areas of timekeeping, broadcasting and marketing, as preparations intensify for The World Games 2025, from 7-17 August 2025.
