The official visit in the city that will host The World Games’ 35 sports from 7-17 August 2025 was made by an IWGA delegation led by President José Perurena and CEO Joachim Gossow. On the Local Organising Committee (LOC) side, the working meetings were headed by Ms. Zhang Ruiquin, Deputy Head of the Preparatory Group for TWG 2025. On the evening of 2 April, President Perurena, IWGA CoCom Members and staff gathered for a meeting with Ms. Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary General of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Vice-Chairperson of TWG 2025 Organising Committee. Successful discussions focused on various facets of the organisation, showing the organisers’ readiness to host the Games in the region.

Prior to the official start of the CoCom meeting, a Marketing Plan Agreement was officially signed between the IWGA and the LOC. The plan calls for close cooperation between both parties to further commercially promote TWG 2025. The CoCom meeting was productive and highlighted the strong team spirit and collaborative efforts between the LOC and the IWGA.

IWGA President Perurena praised the LOC work: “We are all very pleased with the progress in the preparations and we appreciated the LOC’s efforts in key sectors. The IWGA is particularly grateful for the amount of support the Chinese Olympic Committee has provided since the very start of the adventure. Preparations are going in the right direction in all aspects. We are looking forward to attending The World Games next summer and I am convinced, after my fourth visit to Chengdu, that our Chinese partners will deliver yet another remarkable sports event for all the stakeholders.”

During their stay, the IWGA also had the opportunity to tour several competition venues, the International Broadcast Centre and the Main Press Centre.
