Lukas Hinder confirmed as WDSF President

IWGA Treasurer Lukas Hinder copiaThe delegates of the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) overwhelmingly confirmed Lukas Hinder, who ran unopposed, as president. The elections were conducted at the WDSF Annual General Meeting in 12 June in Rome, Italy. The Federation informed the International World Games Association about the results of these elections in a letter to IWGA President José Perurena.

Lukas Hinder became Acting President of the WDSF in January 2016 after his predecessor, Carlos Freitag, stepped down. At the AGM in Rome he received the confirmation by the WDSF delegates. Lukas Hinder has also served as an IWGA Board Member for more than 15 years.

José Perurena congratulated Lukas Hinder after his election. “I wish you every success in this demanding position. We all know that you bring a lot of experience and passion to the WDSF. I am convinced that you will continue to lead your federation to the benefit of the organization and especially of the WDSF athletes,” wrote José Perurena to Lukas Hinder.

The WDSF Presidium also confirmed the appointment of -Laurent Bourquin, a Swiss who had been an adviser to Dance Sport's governing body since 2013, as its new CEO. Finally WDSF announced the moving of its headquarters and office from Lucerne to Lausanne.

WDSF is one of 37 member federations of the IWGA. Dance Sport will be on the program of The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw/Poland.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
