13394067 1139002366169215 1244992803696665149 nThe Wroclaw Organizing Committee (WOC) and the Wroclaw Academy of Fine Arts have announced the start of the contest for the design of the medals. The tender for this contest was launched on Wednesday, 400 days before the opening ceremony of The World Games 2017 (20-30 July) in the capital city of Lower Silesia/Poland.

Only graduates of Fine Arts Academies in Poland are entitled to enter the contest. They have to submit their projects before 23 September 2016. It will be a Jury’s role to choose the best three propositions. The finalists will be announced in mid-October and an internet vote will then start. It will be up to the citizens of Wrocław and the entire World Games community to decide which of the finalists will become the official medal of TWG2017. The winner will be announced by 15 November 2017.

Next year during the Games in Wrocław more than 200 sets of medals will be distributed among the best athletes competing in the 27 official sports on the programme and 4 invitational sports. Given that some sports included in the ten-day event are team sports, the organizers have to produce more than 1,000 medals.

The regulations that the graduates must follow say: There will be two sizes of medal – 8 cm diameter for the official sports and 6 cm diameter for invitational sports. The medal has to show the logo of the International World Games Association and a host-city related symbol.
