Wroclaw World Games
Now Planned for 20 – 30 July 2017
José Perurena, President of the International World Games Association (IWGA), has informed the participating International Federations about a change of dates for The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw / Poland. The 10th edition of this multi-sport event will now take place from 20 – 30 July 2017. With this decision, the Executive Committee of the IWGA is responding to a formal request from the Wroclaw Organizing Committee (WOC).
The WOC explained that these new dates would prevent a scheduling conflict with other major events and underlined the evident advantage of getting better media coverage when staging The World Games 2017 at the end of July.
In his letter to the participating federations, José Perurena informed them that the Executive Committee had discussed this request intensely, and after consultation with IWGA’s media and marketing partners had decided to accept the WOC’s well-founded request.
The World Games – under the patronage of the IOC - are a quadrennial and multidisciplinary sports event, which showcase 35+ sports, such as Gymnastics, Squash, Tug of War, Sumo and Roller Sports. About 4,500 athletes and officials from approximately 100 countries take part in The World Games.
