Wako applies for becoming 37th member of the World Games Family

The World Association of Kickboxing Federations(WAKO) applied for becoming the 37^th member federation of the IWGA. During the IWGA’s Annual General Meeting in Belek/Turkey in April, the delegates voted in favour of the admission of the WAKO. IWGA President José Perurena welcomed the new member of The orld Games family. Moreover: Kickboxing is one of the four sports on the invitational sports programme of The World Games 2017 in Wrocław, Poland.

WAKO use this platform to introduce Kickboxing as a sport that is attractive both for the media and the spectators. Today WAKO counts on a market of kickboxers estimated to be more than 4,000,000 practitioners and no less than 8,000 clubs around the globe.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
