Wako applies for becoming 37th member of the World Games Family

The World Association of Kickboxing Federations(WAKO) applied for becoming the 37th member federation of the IWGA. During the IWGA’s Annual General Meeting in Belek/Turkey in April, the delegates voted in favour of the admission of the WAKO. IWGA President José Perurena welcomed the new member of The orld Games family. Moreover: Kickboxing is one of the four sports on the invitational sports programme of The World Games 2017 in Wrocław, Poland.

 

WAKO logo-WAKO use this platform to introduce Kickboxing as a sport that is attractive both for the media and the spectators. Today WAKO counts on a market of kickboxers estimated to be more than 4,000,000 practitioners and no less than 8,000 clubs around the globe.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
