IWGA Communication of Sanctions

The International World Games Association (IWGA) has sanctioned three athletes for anti-doping rule violations under the World Anti-Doping Code, Art. 2.1 (Presence of Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample).

The bowler Laura BEUTHNER (GER) has been sanctioned by the IWGA as follows:

As per Article 9.1 of the IWGA Anti-Doping rules, all individual results achieved in The World Games 2017 are disqualified with all medals and other prizes to be returned, if any, including the Gold medal (21 July 2017) in the Bowling Ten Pin Single’s Women event.

The prohibited substance taken was Hydrochlorothiazide (S5. Diuretics and Masking Agents).

  1. The rower Bartosz ZABLOCKI (POL) has been sanctioned by the IWGA as follows:

As per Article 9.1 of the IWGA Anti-Doping rules, all individual results achieved in The World Games 2017 are disqualified with all medals and other prizes to be returned, if any, including the Silver medal (26 July 2017) in Indoor Rowing Men’s Openweight 2000m event.
The prohibited substance taken was Desethylclomiphene (S4. Hormone and Metabolic Modulators).

  1. The kickboxer Carlos Augusto INOCENTE FILHO (BRA) has been sanctioned by the IWGA as follows:

As per Article 9.1 of the IWGA Anti-Doping rules, all individual results achieved in The World Games 2017 are disqualified with all medals and other prizes to be returned, if any, including the Gold medal (27 July 2017) in the Kickboxing Men’s K1 +91kg event.

The prohibited substances taken were Stanozolol (S1. Anabolic Agents), Anastrozole and Tamoxifen (S4. Hormone and Metabolic Modulators) and THC (S8. Cannabinoids).

 The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
