Previous weekend in Wrocław abounded in events under The World Games 2017 theme: Squash, Canoe Polo and some more sports within the programme of the multi sports event stood in focus during three exciting days under the banner (and the flag) of The World Games.

On Friday, on Solny Square devotees of squash, one of the spectacular sports in The World Games 2017 have met. Besides squash, many other interesting events of The World Games 2017 sports took place on the glass court during that day. In the spectacular shows, representatives of many sports, which will be performed in the capital of Lower Silesia in 2017 have presented themselves.

Over the past couple of months, the flag of The World Games has been passed through educational institutions in Wrocław. It was brought from Colombia, where the previous edition of The World Games took place. One by one, schools and kindergardens in Wrocław, were not only hosting the flag, but more important, were meeting with the champions from each sport. They took part in many activities and contests dedicated to the biggest sport event in the history of Poland and got to know all the disciplines of The World Games 2017.

The transmission of the flag on Saturday was full of precedents. For the first time a flag was given to the higher University, namely University of Technology. Some spectacular disciplines were presented during the ceremony. Disciplines of The World Games 2017 were presented in water- lifesaving, wakeboarding, and in the air– parachuting. The audience was pleased and amazed by the performances. The transmission of The World Games 2017 flag for University of Technology took place on May 24th, Saturday at Wyspianskiego Coast.

Along with the ceremony, we saw an attractive shows of Life Saving, Dance sport, Karate and Acrobatic Gymnastic. On Sunday, the citizens of Wroclaw were able to watch an incredible Canoe Polo match performed by representatives of the Polish National Team.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
