Carl Yngvar Christensen (NOR) Writes IPF history!

SOFIA. The young lifter (24) Carl Yngvar Christensen from Norway, who won last year the silver medal in the super heavyweight division at the powerlifting events during The World Games in Cali set a milestone in the history of powerlifting with an incredible total of 1200kg.

He achieved this amazing total at the European Powerlifting Championships in Sofia/Bulgaria last weekend. The basis for the first total of 1200kg he set in the squat with a huge new world record of 485kg! In the second discipline - the bench press - he pressed 337,5kg and in the final discipline the deadlift, he lifted 377,5kg.

As Carl Yngvar Christensen is the first lifter in the IPF with this unbelievable 3-lift world record of 1200kg he wrote history in the sport of powerlifting.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
