Japan’s national women’s lacrosse team has been named Athlete of the Month for January 2025 following their outstanding victory at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship on February 1 in Queensland, Australia.

Their dominant performance secured the championship title and reaffirmed Japan’s position as a rising force in international lacrosse.

With this victory, Japan has officially qualified for The World Games 2025 (TWG 2025), set to take place in Chengdu, China, in August 2025. They now join Australia, Canada, Great Britain, the United States, and host nation China in the prestigious tournament, with the final two spots to be determined at the European sixes’ competition in Portugal this March.

“The Japanese women's victory at the recent Asia-Pacific Women's Lacrosse Championship is a testament to their hard work, skill and commitment to excellence. Qualifying for The World Games 2025 is a well-earned reward, and we look forward to seeing them compete on the global stage this summer in Chengdu,” noted World Lacrosse leasdership.

Japan’s success not only strengthens their presence in international lacrosse but also inspires the continued growth of the sport in the region. With momentum on their side, Team Japan will look to build on this achievement as they prepare to face the world’s best in Chengdu this summer.
