Impressions of the IWGA AGM 2016
IWGA President José Perurena welcomed the delegates of all 37 member federations of the International World Games Association.
The new constitution – presented by Vice-President Max Bishop – passed the AGM unanimously (36 yes/ 1 abstention). For this reason: The decision over the six valid membership applications were postponed to the next AGM in April 2017.
Adam Roczek, Deputy CEO of the Wroclaw Organizing Committee, informed about the state of play. He did it together with Grzegorz Pyzałka, head of the sports department, and Edyta Musioł, responsible for the venue management.
Scott Myers, Head of the delegation of Birmingham/Alabama, host of TWG 2021, promised: “We are getting ready for the world.” He gave his presentation together with: David F. Galbaugh and Steve Mistrot.
Kit McConnell, Sports Director of the IOC, underlined the close partnership between IOC and the IWGA. Kit McConnell said on Monday: "The new Memorandum of Understanding describes a new era of partnership. We are not only signing a piece of paper to send a message but there is a stronger plan behind it to implement the cooperation in practical steps as we move forward.”
IWGA Athlete of the Year, Mwai Kumwenda, was rewarded at the IWGA Annual General Meeting. As Kumwenda is currently playing in New Zealand, and could not be present, the president of the International Netball Federation, Ms Molly Rhone, took the prize from IWGA President José Perurena and will present it to Mwai Kumwenda at a later stage. Mwai sent a video message to The World Game family.
