IWGA Seeks Athlete of the Year 2015

Online vote until 31 January to determine the “Best of the Best”

The International World Games Association (IWGA) has now launched an online vote for the athlete or the team of the year. Until 31 January supporters and friends of The World Games can cast a vote for the top athlete / the top team of 2015. Voting is available online on the IWGA website. The winner will be announced on 1 February 2016. A trophy will be awarded in cooperation with the winner’s federation.

Voting will also be promoted on the IWGA Facebook Channel and Twitter Account. This means that supporters of a candidate will be able to share their enthusiasm and encourage other fans to support an athlete or team.

Eighteen candidates have been shortlisted, and World Games fans can choose their favorite with a click. The shortlist comprises the candidates nominated by their international federations. As last year, some of the IWGA Athletes of the Month are candidates for election as Athlete/Team of the Year too.

It is the third time that the IWGA has staged a vote for the Athlete of the Year. “After the highly successful voting in 2014 and 2015 we want once again to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding athletes with this public vote. This campaign shows the diversity of our sports, too”, explained IWGA President José Perurena.

The winners in the past were:

2013: Marcel Hassemeier (Life Saving) from Germany and the mixed Flying Disc Team from the USA.

2014: Adam Ondra (Sports Climbing) from Czech Republic.

Vote now for the IWGA Athlete of the Year 2015!
