Hansel & Gretel as guests at Cocom meeting

Representatives of the International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Wroclaw Organizing Committee (WOC) attended the IWGA Coordinating Committee meeting in Wroclaw on Thursday and Friday. The IWGA delegation, led by President José Perurena, inspected the state of preparations for The World Games 2017, 20-30 July 2017.

The WOC presented detailed plans and key milestones for the next two years. The IWGA provided input delivered by all departments and described their own activities and plans. "It was a very good and effective meeting. We worked hard and we can see that the Organizing Committee and the IWGA are moving in the right direction. We aim to deliver superb games in 2017," said IWGA’s President José Perurena. A smaller but colorful and entertaining item on the agenda of the meeting: The local organizers presented the mascots of TWG2017. “Hansel & Gretel” will regularly appear in the course of various sports competitions and events to promote the idea of The World Games 2017 in Wrocław.

Members of the Coordinating Committee (CoCom) from the IWGA include: President José Perurena, Vice-President Max Bishop, Treasurer Lukas Hinder, CEO Joachim Gossow and Secretary General Chantal Boehi. The WOC is represented by its President, Piotr Przygonski, Operations Director, Beata Pierre, Board Delegate, Agata Granatowska, Sports Director, Grzegorz Pyzałka and members of the WOC staff.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
