During the World Championships there was more to achieve than medals. The event was indicated to qualify the teams for The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw/Poland (20 -30 July 2017). In advance of the WKC the International Korfball Federation (IKF) had drastically changed the qualification criteria for TWG 2017, such that a better global balance would be attained while retaining the quality of the event. In the qualification procedure, Poland had been qualified automatically as host country, while any non-European country would qualify if it would finish in the top-11 of the WKC 2015. The remaining countries would then be the top European countries.

The following countries have qualified for TWG 2017:

1. Poland (host country)

2. China (non-European country reaching WKC top 8)

3. Chinese Taipei (non-European country reaching WKC top 8)

4. Australia (non-European country reaching WKC top 11)

5. The Netherlands

6. Belgium

7. England (representing Great Britain)

8. Germany
