Fistball

When The World Games in Columbia are lying ahead, the fistball world champion must not be absent. The reigning world champion Germany announces himself to the games in Cali. The team of Germany’s coach Olaf Neuenfeld won the title about two years ago in front of 10.000 spectators, who were watching the final of Pasching/Austria against the title holders and hosts of Austria. For the first time since 1995 the reigning champion hails from Germany, which currently has won ten titles in total.

This year the German team will arrive with numerous champions, but also with new talents – and, certainly, the aim is to win the second global title. This would mean gold for the fifth time in the course of the World Games. At the recent games of Kaohsiung in 2009 one remained without any medal – this, certainly, shall not be repeated this time. The hardest competitors fighting for the title are likely to be the European champion Swiss, ex-world champion Austria as well as the Brazilians.

The preparations for the German team have already begun: national coach Neuenfeld and the expanded squad performed two training camps in May, the team for the World Games will be announced in June.
