First CoCom Meeting Launches Preparation of The World Games 2017
COLORADO SPRINGS (29/11/2013). With the first CoCom meeting taking place from 2 to 3 December, the preparations for the 10th edition of The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland are officially beginning. Representing the International World Games Association (IWGA), President Ron Froehlich, Vice-President Max Bishop, CEO Joachim Gossow and General Manager Patsy Dew will take part in discussions with the representatives of the Wroclaw Local Organizing Committee (WOC). The WOC will be represented, among others, by its President Piotr Przygonski, General Director Hanna Domagala and Sports Director Grzegorz Pyzałka.
Amongst items on the agenda of the first CoCom meeting on Monday and Tuesday is the development of a common working structure and timeframes for the next steps . In addition, the representatives of IWGA and WOC want to discuss the evaluation reports on The World Games 2013 in Cali, Colombia, and use them for further development of the multi-sport event. President Ron Froehlich says: "Our goal is to get better and better. In the city of Wroclaw, we have found a partner who shares this vision." He adds: "To achieve this goal, a detailed evaluation of the previous events is necessary. This is the prerequisite to set new benchmarks in cooperation with the current host city."
A press conference is planned for after the CoCom meeting. The participants will use the opportunity not only to report on the results of their conversations, but also to advertise The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw.
Wroclaw will stage the multi-sport Games from 3 to 13 August 2017. Approximately 3500 athletes will compete in over 30 sports. After Asia (Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei) and South America (Cali, Colombia), the Games will once again be held on the European continent - for the first time since 2005.
