Athletes of the Day 9

published on 29 July, 2017

Every day the International World Games Association awards prizes for IWGA Athlete or Team of the Day - powered by Tissot! Today, the jury of experts has selected Chinese Taipei Women’s Tug of War team. CEO of the Birmingham Organising Committee, DJ Mackovets, congratulated the team on the stage.

Chinese Taipei’s Women’s Indoor 540 kg Tug of War team won all their matches at The World Games 2017 with the biggest possible marginal, 3-0. In the final they met People’s Republic of China and even there they did not lose a set, but won the match 3-0. The athletes in the Chinese Taipei team are college students at a Sport academy. They are training three sports, and Tug of War is one of them. They train together every day. The team has done a training stage in Northern Ireland and trained with a men's team. Now they were able to bring the first gold medal of these World Games to their home country, Chinese Taipei.
