Farewell with a Medal: Rejane Sinhori

Rejane Sinhori from Brazil (Club Duque de Caxias) made her last ever match in her career. Fortunately the Fistball player said farewell with a win and medal. Here Team made it to 3-1 victory over Austria in the Bronze medal match today at Berylson Soccer Park. As a defender, she was one of the most valuable players who won the first ever Fistball women´s medal at the TWG2022. The 37-year-old has been performing at a very high level for many years. Amongst many other successes, she is World Cup winner from 2016 and 2017, was Pan-American Champion in 2015 and was World Champion in 2010 and 2016. She was also an IFA Athlete of the Month in November 2017. Going back to Birmingham, Alabama: In the second group match Brazil ended Germany’s 48-match winning streak. Rejane Sinhori was on the pitch as the Germans learned that they cannot win every match, although they would go on to win gold. Team Brazil cried after their lost in the semifinals against team Switzerland. However, the teary dried swiftly when they made it Bronze at The World Games.

They ever come back: Swiss Tug-of-War-Team 640 Kilo

Revenge succeeded. The pullers from Switzerland successfully pulled together and reclaimed the gold medal in the 640 kilo class. In a rematch of the 2017 final in Wroclaw, Poland, Martin and Thomas Arnold, Walter Bernhard, Robin Burch, Ueli Christen, Samuel Grani, Ruedi Odermatt, Fabian Rolli, Emanuel and Johannes Zumbuhl clearly prevailed with a 2-0 score. In 2017, the British had won the title that Switzerland had held for many years: 2005 in Duisburg, Germany 2009 in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei and 2013 in Cali, Colombia the Swiss achieved gold. The defeat in Wroclaw hurt. Time to ease the pain, accordingly they left no doubts about their success. With a clean sweep they made it to become The World Games Champion once more. The Swiss squad won their four preliminary round matches with 3-0 each. The semi-final against Belgium? 3-0 for Switzerland. For gold, only two winning sets were necessary. Great Britain had no chance against the tactically strong favorites. From the 2017 Swiss team, only Fabian Rolli was still there.
