Online vote until 31 January to determine the “Best of the Best” 

IWGA Seeks Athlete(s) of the Year, 2014

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is launching an online vote for the athlete or the team of the year. Until 31 January supporters and friends of The World Games can cast a vote for the top athlete / the top team of 2014. Voting is now available online on the IWGA website: www.theworldgames.org. Nine candidates have been shortlisted, among whom World Games fans can choose their favorite with a click. The winner will be announced after the public vote closes. A trophy will be awarded in cooperation with the winner’s federation.

The shortlist comprises the nine IWGA Athletes / Teams of the Month in 2014. It is the second time that the IWGA has staged a vote for the Athlete of the Year. “After the highly successful debut last year we want once again to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding athletes with this public vote”, explained IWGA President José Perurena.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
