Martial Arts at Wrocław's marathon

This year's 32nd Wrocław Marathon attracted a record number of competitors. There was no doubts that representatives of The World Games 2017 would attend at such a great event.

Due to the fact that the starting and finishing line were placed at the Olympic Stadium (which is one of TWG 2017 venues), organizers also prepared additional attractions for fans waiting for runners. They were assisted by fighters from Wrocław’s Club Boi Team who presented another The World Games 2017 discipline - Ju-Jitsu. Athlets also proposed a training with the audience.

Everything stays on the mat

A fighting mat appeared in front of TWG 2017 tent. After the presentation, under a watchful eye of professionals, two training sessions for the youngest fans were organized. The program included: warm-up, lessons how to belay during the fall, and at the end - simulated fight. For each participant representatives of TWG 2017 prepared a set of gifts, as a reward for taking part in exercises.

A prize-giving ceremony was hosted on the main stage of 32nd Wrocław Marathon. In addition to the entire event winners, marathon organizers also awarded athletes with the best time from a various age and thematic categories. On this occasion the runner who crossed the finish line as 2017th, Michal Zywiczka (runner-amateur from Wrocław) received a special prize including: two squash rackets and gadgets related to The World Games 2017 from the President of Wrocław Organizing Committee, Piotr Przygonski.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
