Weather update: impactful showers and thunderstorms

published on 13 July, 2022

The weather forecast now says that it is very likely that there will be widespread, impactful showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in the Birmingham area. Some of these storms could contain isolated damaging wind gusts and large hailstones.

Because of the weather forecasts, matches in Lacrosse were moved from afternoon to morning and they have already been played. The same applies for Fistball, except for the women’s gold medal match which has been moved to Thursday. Boules Sports competitions, as well as Archery, are scheduled to start earlier in the afternoon than originally planned. The World Games Plaza will remain closed during the day on Wednesday, and the Athlete of the Day award ceremony has been postponed to 8.00 p.m. Athletes’ Night will begin at 7.00 p.m, and the American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor Big Boi is scheduled to perform on the Main Stage at 9.00 p.m.
