Two sets of medals will not be awarded in Raffa

Four out of the twelve Boules Sports finals have had to be cancelled at The World Games 2017 due to bad weather. In two of these competitions, medals will not be awarded. Heavy rain and strong winds at noon on Sunday made the courts unsafe and therefore the organisers decided that it would be too dangerous to continue the matches.

David Noraud, Boules Sports Competition Manager said:

I am very sorry for the athletes

but explained that they had no choice but to cancel the event.

This is the first time in the history of The World Games that competitions were not seen through to their conclusion and medals not awarded.

The semi-finals and finals of the Men’s and Women’s Lyonnaise Progressive discipline were cancelled.

All of the Raffa matches were scheduled for Monday, but due to the dangerous condition of the courts, none of them were played. Therefore, no medals have been awarded and athletes who have been training for this competition will go home empty-handed.
