Tug-of-War Qualifications for TWG 2017

China won the gold medal in the 540-kg women's senior event at the 2016 World Indoor Tug-of-War Championships in the Netherlands. In the final the team of China beat the team of Chinese Taipei.

During the World Championships in Volendam there was more to win than medals. The 540-kg women's senior event was identified as the qualifier for participation in The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw Poland. In advance of the event the Tug-of-War International Federation announced the qualification criteria. The top six eligible teams of this World Championship automatically qualify for this discipline at TWG 2017. Following the rules of TWIF, the qualified countries will be invited to compete at TWG 2017 and have to indicate their acceptance.

The following countries have qualified for TWG 2017:

1. China

2. Chinese Taipei

3. Netherlands

4. Switzerland

5. South Africa

6. Ireland

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
