Świdnica –Partner City of TWG2017
Świdnica, a city in the Lower Silesia region of Poland, will co-host The World Games 2017. Its City Rink Arena will stage the competitions in Roller Inline Hockey and Artistic Roller skating. There will be at least 150 athletes participating in Świdnica events.
The competitions will take place from the 26 -30 July 2017 (Indoor Hockey) and 27/28 July 2017 (Artistic). The City Rink will undergo some important renovation and reconstruction. These include the building of two locker rooms and a new ventilation system. The venue has a capacity to host 800 spectators.
Świdnica’s rink one of the venues of The World Games 2017 located outside Wrocław. The others are Trzebnica (Orienteering), Jelcz-Laskowice (indoor rowing) and Szymanów (air sports).
Wojciech Adamski, Vice Mayor of the city of Wrocław said about the cooperation with Świdnica, 55 kilometers away from Wroclaw: “I am very pleased that the city joined our efforts to stage the best Games in history. It is very important for Wrocław, as the capital of the region, to have other municipalities involved in the process. We believe that The World Games will be a great festival of sports for the entire Lower Silesia.”
Beata Moskal-Słaniewska, Mayor of Świdnica said: “It is an honor to host a part of this great multi-sports event. We believe it will enhance our image and will attract some tourists. We have plenty to offer, including UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, Church of Peace.”
