José Perurena: "The Opening Ceremony opened the gate"

  1. Compared to the Opening Ceremony of The World Games in Cali 2013, which were my first Games, the atmosphere was a little different. What can I say about the opening yesterday? The quality was very good and the performances were absolutely professional. The aim of the organizers was to create an atmosphere and a show which appealed to the spectators in the stadium. This is one of the qualities of our event: we want to integrate the citizens of the host nation. This is very important for us. The Opening Ceremony opened the gate for the Games to spectators. And I liked the idea to bring in the athletes very early so that they could follow most of the show. The athletes were very happy because of this opportunity to take part in the opening and watch the show.

  3. I spoke to some of the athletes this morning. They said that they were happy with the style and approach of the opening ceremony. The event is for younger people and consequently we want to meet their expectations. And we succeeded.
