A good tradition during The World Games is that the IWGA President invites the Presidents and Secretary Generals of the International Federations, as well as other good friends of The World Games, to a breakfast. José Perurena used the occasion to thank the federations for their commitment to the successful launch of The World Games 2022. They met on Tuesday morning at the IWGA Headquarters hotel in Birmingham, ready for an exciting second half of TWG 2022.
José Perurena addressed the federations that have competitions now starting, in the final stretch of the Games. "It's important for our athletes to enjoy an atmosphere here that can only be compared to the Olympic Games." He said he has met many smiling athletes, who are relishing their competitions at The World Games and meeting together after the pandemic. Perurena thanked Birmingham Organizing Committee Chairman Jonathan Porter and CEO Nick Sellers for setting the stage for this reunion of The World Games Family.
The IWGA President also welcomed the delegation from Chengdu, People's Republic of China, Host City in 2025, who are gathering impressions and experiences in Birmingham for the preparation of the upcoming edition. For the IOC, Sports Director Kit McConnell took part. José Perurena welcomed him personally and mentioned the close and fruitful cooperation between IWGA and the IOC.
The World Games creates good memories, and one of them is made of glass. José Perurena handed out a commemorative gift of appreciation to each of the International Federation presidents who took part in the breakfast.
