The Olympics shine into homes across many countries around the world. In Birmingham this year the Olympics will shine a little brighter.

That's right: when the Olympics are on air, so is The World Games 2021 commercial – being aired on Channel 13, an NBC affiliate in Alabama.

The commercial shines light on what's to come in the years ahead, strengthening anticipation for The World Games 2021. The best news for the Channel 13 coverage area is that The Games are coming into its own backyard.

The excitement is already building in Birmingham and the smiles have already begun as Birmingham, Alabama and the United States of America prepare to host the world's best athletes in the 11th iteration of the international games including new events, new ways to watch and, most likely, new records.

And there are more promotions on their way highlighting that Birmingham will be hosting TWG 2021 in three years’ time. The news outlet al.news announced this week: “A mural promoting the upcoming 2021 World Games in Birmingham will soon be painted on a Five Points South apartment complex. The World Games' colour logo is set to be painted along the side of The Waites apartments at 707 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. South. Along with the logo the mural will also likely feature a woman rock climbing.”

  1. Mackovets, CEO of the Organizing Committee, says that the mural will be finished within 60 days. It will be there at least until 2021, and is set to raise significantly the city’s awareness of the event.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition.
