Shawn Tay is Acting WDSF President

Shawn Tay has taken over as Acting President of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), replacing Lukas Hinder. After the WDSF Presidium Meeting on 15-16 November 2018, at an official handover ceremony during the 2018 WDSF World Standard Championship in Vienna, Lukas Hinder was appointed Honorary Life President at the same time. Lukas Hinder also serves as Treasurer for the International World Games Association.

IWGA President José Perurena has sent best wishes to Acting President Shawn Tay in managing the federation in the upcoming future. At the same time he has expressed appreciation for the achievements of Lukas Hinder. He added that DanceSport was on the programme of the Youth Olympic Games 2018, with the discipline ‘Breaking’. Lukas Hinder has thus fulfilled the wish of many dance sport fans: to become part of the Olympic Family. His appointment as Honorary President recognises his commitment to the WDSF.

José Perurena also emphasized that he is looking forward to the The World Games 2021 DanceSport competitions. The federation will be represented with a total of five disciplines in Birmingham, Alabama. Dance sport has been on The World Games programme since 1997; World DanceSport is one of 37 member federations of The World Games.

New FAI President

IWGA President José Perurena has congratulated Robert Henderson on his election as the new President of the World Air Sports Federation (FAI). New Zealand’s Robert Henderson was elected to the top post in the Federation for a four-year term at its meeting in Egypt at the end of October.

In a personal letter, the IWGA President said that he was looking forward to cooperating with the new president and the new FAI board, in anticipation that the new FAI President will continue the federation’s long-standing support for The World Games. Air Sports is one of 28 sports in the official programme of the eleventh edition of The World Games (15-25 July 2021) in Birmingham, Alabama. There will be competition in two disciplines: drone racing and canopy piloting.

The IWGA also thanked Henderson’s predecessor, Fritz Brink, for his great contribution not only to the FAI, but also The Word Games family. The FAI is one of 37 member associations of the IWGA.
