Minister of Sport and Tourism supports TWG2017!

"The Ministry of Sport and Tourism supports and will support organization of The World Games 2017 in Wrocław. We intend to increase state financing of TWG2017, because we believe it is excellent promotion of Poland,” claimed by the new Minister of Sport and Tourism, Witold Bańka. He took part in the third Sports Partners meeting of The World Games 2017, held in Warsaw.

The meeting at the headquarters of the Polish Olympic Committee was attended by Andrzej Kraśnicki, the Chairman of the POC, Rafał Dutkiewicz, the Mayor of Wrocław, Wojciech Adamski , the Vice-Mayor of Wrocław, Adam Krzesinski, the General Secretary of the POC, the CEO of the International Association of The World Games Joachim Gossow. The representatives of more than 30 sports associations and unions, whose disciplines were included in the program of TWG 2017, took part in this presentation of the biggest multi-sport event in Poland, too.

Minister Witold Bańka claimed in his statement: “Taking into account the number of players, coaches, training staff and officials, which will attend The World Games and come to the City, this event is worth to be well organised. We are sure it will provide a measurable effect for the whole country and the whole Polish sport.”

Adam Krzesinski assured that the Polish Olympic Committee would take care of the uniform clothes of the Polish team, which can include even 400 people. The representatives of the POC, the Ministry of Sport and the Wrocław Organisation Committee will also create the team coordinating all works associated with preparation the Polish teams for TWG. The advisor of the Minister of Sport, Andrzej Banasiak, reminded the representatives of the Sports Federation that the Ministry runs the support program for the disciplines of The World Games.

The President of the Wrocław Organizing Committee of The World Games, Piotr Przygoński, presented the report on the status of the city's preparations to organise the event. The individual meetings of the representatives of the sports disciplines were held on Thursday and Friday with the employees of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Polish Olympic Committee and the Wrocław Organizing Committee of The 2017 World Games.

 

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
