Sports fans have a huge choice of venues and action at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama today. On Sunday 15 different sports are on the programme. Twenty-one sets of medals will be awarded in the course of the day! And we see history: The first medals ever at The World Games will be awarded in Drone Racing (Air Sports), Breaking (Dance Sports) and Parkour (Gymnastics). Don’t miss the events on The World Games Channel or on olympics.com

Drone Racing at the Protective Stadium reaches its climax today, with elimination from the top 32 right down to the medal winners.  The bronze medal match and final this evening for both men and women in Breaking, at Sloss Furnaces, is the culmination of a crowded DanceSport programme. But Breaking will start early and catch up on what was missed. The first competition session planned for Saturday afternoon and evening had to be postponed due to a thunderstorm. Parkour Freestyle Men and Parkour Speed Women are the two disciplines opening the Gymnastics programme at Sloss Furnaces. Both are medal competitions.

There are some more “firsts” on Sunday: It’s the first day for American Football, Fistball, Life Saving and Racquetball, and the last day for Powerlifting and Sumo. And in Powerlifting, at the BJCC Complex, medals will be awarded for the men’s and women’s Equipped Super Heavyweight classes. Sumo, at Boutwell Auditorium, ends with two Open Weight competitions.

In Air Sports, it’s the second day of three for Parachute Canopy Piloting and it’s a “first” as well. Part of the competition on Saturday had to be postponed due to the weather. There are eight medal events today in Life Saving at Crossplex Natatorium; three Individual events (men and women) in Manikin Carry, Obstacle Swim and Super Lifesaver and the 4 x 50m Obstacle Relay, also men and women. The remaining medal events today are at Powell Steam Plant in Speed Skating – 4 sets of medals are up for grabs in Road Point Race and Road Sprint.

Bowling at the BJCC moves a stage forward today, with Quarter and Semi-finals in Tenpin Doubles and group matches plus Quarter and Semi-finals in Tenpin Singles. In Archery at Avondale Park it’s the Qualification day for a new discipline: Field Recurve, men and women. Racquetball has its first of four days at the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center, where 32 Singles players will be whittled down to 16.

Fistball starts today at Panther Soccer Stadium – 5 days for men and 4 for women. Four Preliminary matches in each class will take place today. There will be six Preliminary matches for both men and women in Flag Football at Legion Field, the first of five days of American Football. And Preliminary matches continue today in Softball, Lacrosse and Inline Hockey.
