SPECTACULAR USA AUSTRALIA SHOWDOWN TO LAUNCH 2014 SEASON ON THE WATER
WORLD CUP STOP JOINS ACTION SPORTS GAMES MANDURAH
FOR EXTREME WEEKEND MARCH 15/16
Sports Games Mandurah in Western Australia attracted 100,000 spectators one year ago. This year, Waterski and Wakeboard athletes from twenty-three countries will return for the first Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup Stop of the 2014 series on March 15/16. Located just south of Perth, the 25C / 80F seaside conditions at Mandurah make this a perfect location for extreme sports – and a major international sporting occasion!
This 39th World Cup Stop of the IWWF will include the two extreme events of Wakeboard and Waterski Jump. In Wakeboard, World Champions Harley Clifford (AUS) and Raimi Merritt (USA) are ready for action. They will join recently crowned Waterski World Jump Champions Freddy Krueger (USA) and Jacinta Carroll (AUS). Clifford, Krueger and Carroll are also defending their 2013 Mandurah World Cup titles. MasterCraft will again provide the competition boats and technical support.
With two current World Champions from Australia on site plus two from the USA, the anticipated 100,000 spectators on the shoreline will have much to cheer. Will the World Champions of Australia and the USA take those coveted World Cup trophies this year? Either way, it will be a thriller. Competing also will be athletes from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Belarus, Canada, Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Republic of South Africa, Russia, Thailand, Sweden and USA. The flags of the Nations will certainly turn Mandurah into a world focus venue for the weekend of March 15/16.
This year, apart from Waterski and Wakeboard, Action Sports Games Mandurah will also feature Freestyle Moto X, BMX and Skateboard. Again, these will be staged at the crystal clear water’s edge. For the first time, Murdoch University has also come on board as a major partner to help promote their extensive nearby Mandurah Peel Campus. The famous annual Channel 7 Crab Fest, which takes place at the same time, will also attract large crowds to the pristine shoreline. Last year, even the local Dolphins and Pelicans got involved in the World Cup!
Watch out for regular Facebook and Twitter updates on all the great Riders and Skiers who will launch this 2014 season in Mandurah. Those thousands of World Cup fans around the world will have more opportunities than ever before to follow the action through a great range of Social Media, Webcast and other options available this year.
