Chengdu, China – 27 March 2025 – The International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Chengdu 2025 Local Organising Committee have held a series of productive meetings this week in preparation for The World Games 2025 (TWG 2025) and the second edition of the The World Games Series, set to start on Friday 28 March in the host city.
The discussions culminated in the 4th Coordination Committee (CoCom) meeting on 27 March, led by IWGA Vice-President Tom Dielen, together with the Chengdu 2025 Organising Committee (LOC) leadership and Ms. Song Xueying, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
Key topics included registration and accreditation, transport, catering, accommodation, anti-doping measures, sports operations, and broadcast and media strategies to ensure global promotion of this prestigious event.
Exciting updates were shared regarding the conception of the show of Opening and Closing Ceremonies, along with detailed plans for the first-ever Torch Relay in TWG history to enhance the spectators and sports fans’ overall experience.
IWGA Vice-President, Tom Dielen, expressed confidence in the ongoing preparations, stating: "We are delighted to say that all involved parts are playing a key role in the delivery of this event; the LOC, the IFs, the NOCs/NSOs, the partners, and the IWGA are working hand in hand to deliver a phenomenal event that will exceed expectations and bring it to new standards never achieved before.
