IWGA CEO at IPF Meeting

The IPF General Assembly 2014 was being held on 2 November in the city of Aurora, Colorado, USA. 42 member federations were present to take part in the Annual meeting. The IPF had the honor to have IWGA CEO Mr. Joachim Gossow and the General Manager Mrs. Patsy Dew, present at the General Assembly.

Mr. Gossow had a presentation about the history of the World Games, when the IWGA started and some facts about its history, including the fact that the IPF is one of the founding sports of the World Games. The Assembly was very successful with few changes for the upcoming year, example there is a new approved list from 1 January 2015 which will be valid for 4 years and also changes in the By-Laws and Technical Rules. 

Like every year the IPF honors members into the Hall of Fame, for Administration the Hall of Fame goes to the late Peter Fiore, his last position was the President of the Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation. The athlete Hall of Fame award went to the 2 x World Open Powerlifting Champion Anibal Coimbra from Luxembourg.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
