During the opening ceremony, Hansel and Gretel (Jaś i Małgosia) were presented as the official mascots of The World Games 2017. They were accompanied onto the pitch by the young creators of the winning design and President of The World Games 2017 Piotr Przygoński.

Max Bishop, IWGA Vice-President who attended the game, was impressed by the efficient organization of the event, which the organizers used to promote The World Games 2017. The coin for the pre-game toss was delivered onto the pitch by a parachutist  (air sports are also included on TWG2017 sports programme). A lot of interest was raised by screenings of video clips of TWG2017 sports in virtual reality technology.

The organizers had built a “Town of Sports of The World Games 2017” for the supporters. Everyone could spend time trying out for themselves the sports that will take place in Wroclaw in 2017. Most popular was a training session with American football star Babatunde Aiyegbusi.

Other ports of call in the “Town of Sports” were an archery stand, rowing ergometers, lacrosse training with the players of Kosynierzy and Kosynierki Wroclaw. People could meet the Individual Speedway Polish Champion and TWG2017 Ambassador, Maciej Janowski. Those attractions were really besieged by the fans. A lot of spectators showed up to watch the prize competitions and demonstrations of martial arts such as kickboxing and muaythai, too.

Two years in advance of The World Games 2017, the X Superfinal of Polish League of American Football in Wrocław helped to raise levels of anticipation for the multisport event which will start with an Opening Ceremony at the Wroclaw stadium on 20 July 2017.
