Ron Froehlich thanks Jacques Rogge for his support

The International World Games Association extended its gratitude for the solidarity showed by outgoing IOC President, Jacques Rogge, with The World Games, during a lunch meeting that took place in Cali. IWGA President Ron Froehlich presented two framed posters as gifts on this occasion.

Jacques Rogge was in fact at the first edition in 1981, being the Mission’s chief for the Belgian team at that time. As Vice-President and also as President of the IOC, he was part of five other versions of this multisport Event. On his thank you speech, he expressly addressed Jacques Rogge’s wife saying that without the support of partners like Countess Anne Rogge, such success would not be possible; “we couldn’t have asked for a better volunteer“, said Froehlich, before handing her another gift he had prepared.

At the lunch with Jacques Rogge, along with numerous representatives of the International Federations, the IOC members present at the ninth World Games were also able to assist.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
