COLORADO SPRINGS. During the SportAccord Convention in Saint Petersburg delegates of the IWGA member federations get together for their Annual General Meeting. Amongst other things, the presentation of the cities of Cali, Colombia, host of the 9th World Games from 26 July to 4 August, and Wroclaw, Poland, host of the 10th edition in 2017, will be on the agenda of the AGM headed by IWGA President Ron Froehlich on Monday, 27 May.
Beyond that, the delegates decide on the membership applications of four sports federations who want to become members of the IWGA. The applicants are the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL), the International Floorball Federation (IFF), the International Muaythai Federation Amateur (IFMA), and the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO). All four federations have fulfilled the formal requirements for an official candidacy for the IWGA.

The decision whether these applications will be granted lies with the member federations. A simple majority is sufficient. At present, the International World Games Association has 33 members.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
