Free shuttle system will get spectators to competitions and other events efficiently and safely

A fleet of shuttle buses will be deployed to efficiently and safely transport spectators to and from The World Games 2022 events while keeping the rest of the city moving.

The shuttles – which will transport riders at no-cost – are part of the transportation plan called “Ride the Line” that officials from The World Games 2022, the City of Birmingham and the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) have announced. The World Games 2022 will take place 7–17 July in Birmingham, Alabama.

“This will be the easiest and most efficient way for fans to get to most venues so they can watch these incredible sport competitions. Thanks to a partnership between the City of Birmingham, the BJCTA and the Birmingham Organizing Committee, all Ride the Line buses will be free and accessible for fans enjoying The World Games 2022. With Ride the Line, you will get a free ride that will drop you off at the closest entryway,” said Nick Sellers, CEO of The World Games 2022.

Information about the plan, including detailed maps showing bus routes and stops, can be found online at www.twg2022.com/ride.

Ride the Line is the result of months of meticulous planning between TWG 2022 and local transportation leaders and it is designed to promote the best experience possible not only for those attending The World Games events but also residents and businesses.

The shuttles will be clean and air-conditioned and include information and signage about Ride the Line routes, the sports venues and event schedules that will help fans get where they need to go.

Competing athletes and media covering the events will have their own transportation systems separate from spectators.

The shuttles will run in loops between the venues from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. during TWG 2022.
