From 25 July to 4 August 2013 The World Games will take place for the 9th time. It’s the 1st time the multi-sport event is held on the South American continent.
4500 athletes and officials coming from 101 countries from all over the world will participate in competitions in 31 sports, of these 26 official and 5 invitational sports in 25 venues across the city of Cali (download the list of participating nations).
201 medal events will be held during the 11 competition days (download the schedule).
35.000 spectators will be witnessing the spectacular opening ceremony on the evening of 25 July. It is sold out.
3500 volunteers will be in action to ensure a successful event.
711 journalists from 33 countries will provide cover of the sports competitions as they progress. More than 22 TV stations from 5 continents will be broadcasting competitions of The World Games.

More than 120 hours of TV coverage will be produced by the National TV Station RCTV appointed as the host broadcaster.
Thousands of visitors and millions of Colombians will be able to enjoy a true sporting party for the World.
IOC President Jacques Rogge will attend the opening ceremony.
Rugby 7th will give its farewell in Cali. The sports discipline will be part of the Olympic programme for Rio 2016.
Softball and Squash are two of three sports on the shortlist for the Olympic programme in 2020.
Wroclaw (Poland) was awarded to be the host city of the 10th edition of The World Games in 2017.
