Dmitry Zharkov ad Olga Kulikova crowned European WDSF Champions in Wrocław

14 May - Wroclaw, POL © RolandThe European Championship WDSF 2016 was held in spectacular interiors of UNESCO listed Centennial Hall in Wrocław. The Russian couple dominated the event getting the best score in every dance during the tournament.

The reigning World Champions came ahead of Evaldas Sodeika and Ieva Zukauskaite. The bronze medal went to another Lithuanian couple Vaidotas Lacitis-Veronika Golodneva.

The event was attended by 2.000 spectators. There was a live broadcast of the final round in one of the leading Polish sports channels. Lucas Hinder, the president of the WDSF and IWGA’s treasures was one of the special guests of the Championship.

The tournament is one of four test events organized by the Wrocław Organizing Committee in 2016 and has already been hailed as a big success and good prospect for The World Games 2017, where, apart from standard dances, latin, salsa and rock’n’roll acrobatic will be presented.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
