Athletes of the Day 4

Athletes of the Day 4

published on 24 July, 2017

Every day the International World Games Association awards prizes for the male and female IWGA Athlete of the Day - powered by Tissot! Today, the jury of experts has selected Air Sports pilot Wojciech Bogdal (POL) and Bowling pair Clara Guerrero & Rocio Restrepo (COL). Vice Mayor of Wroclaw Wojciech Adamski  and IWGA Board Member Anna Arzhanova presented the champions with their Tissot watches on the stage of The World Games Plaza next to National Forum of Music.

Paramotoring pilot Wojciech Bogdal became a celebrated star in Poland after winning the first gold medal for the host country of The World Games 2017.

My mobile is stuck because I got so many messages, and my friends tell me I’m in every newspaper of the country

The 23-year-old Air Sports athlete is the reigning European and World Champion, and was aiming for the podium in Wroclaw too, “at least”, he said. He won convincingly with an 8 point lead over Thailand’s Kittiphop Phrommat, who took second place. Bogdal’s medal was the seventh medal for Poland, breaking their earlier The World Games medal record, 6 medals.

In women’s Ten Pin Bowling Doubles, the USA has dominated the lane for the past years. Bowlers Clara Guerrero & Rocio Restrepo, Colombia, changed this in one evening with relaxed playing and good precision. They defeated the pair from the USA, Kelly Kulick and Danielle McEwan, 922–874. Clara Guerrero also took bronze in the Women’s Singles competition two days earlier. As the pair have been awarded female IWGA Athletes of the Day 4, we will see athletes from the host country in 2013 and in 2017 on the stage together!
