The 2013 General Assembly of the International Powerlifting Federation was held on 3rd November in Stavanger, Norway.

ipf-athlete-speaker-3rd-november 02During the General Assembly, the delegates approved to include in the statutes of the IPF a paragraph to elect an athletes speaker for the Executive Board with full voting rights. After the General Assembly, the IPF Executive Board appointed as the first athletes speaker in the IPF history, Mrs. Eva Speth from Germany until the next GA 2014.

Eva Speth is involved in the sport of powerlifting for many years in different fields. She is still an active athlete, anti doping officer on national and international level, national referee and currently also the speaker of the IPF women's committee. Eva has a lot of experience and she will be a big enrichment for the Executive Board and the whole Powerlifting family.

The GA ratified

  • the IPF Code of Ethics
  • IPF Competition Fixing Guidelines and
  • the new IPF Anti Doping rules, which are much more strict to member federations with a high percentage of positive doping cases.

The IPF resources of the IPF development fund were also increased to support and assist member federations in regions with a poor economy and/or many problems to set up a functional national federation of the reason of a lack of support from the official institutions. The main focus will be in Africa, central Asia and Oceania.

A high priority is still the fight against doping and so the GA approved the proposed budget for anti doping work, which is currently 25% of the whole budget of the IPF.

The minutes of the 2013 IPF General Assembly will be published soon on www.powerlifting-ipf.com
