COLORADO SPRINGS (02/04/2014)
Important decisions are on the agenda as the members of the International World Games Association (IWGA) get together for their Annual General Meeting. In Belek, Turkey, the 36 IWGA member federations are going to elect a new board for the next four-year term on Monday. The positions of president, vice president, treasurer and three board members need to be filled.
Moreover, IF representatives will decide about admitting new sport federations at the AGM, staged in the context of the SportAccord Convention. Kickboxing, Wushu and Modern Pentathlon have applied for IWGA membership. The kick-off for the new World Games Channel will also be on Monday. Supporters of The World Games sports will be able to watch live streams and highlight shows of the most recent events organized by the IFs. The World Games Channel will offer an important communication platform showcasing the sports in between two editions of the Games.
The AGM will also use the opportunity to look back on the 9th edition of The World Games in Cali, Colombia last year. 520,000 spectators flocked to the competitions in almost 200 disciplines. The enthusiasm in the host city was the most memorable experience for many of the 4,500 participants from 101 nations. Last, but not least, a delegation from Wroclaw, Poland, will inform delegates about the state of preparations for The World Games 2017.
