200 DAYS TO GO: Countdown to The World Games 2025 contines

Chengdu, China, 19 January 2024- With 200 days to go until the world’s best athletes gather in Chengdu, China, for The World Games 2025, preparations are in full swing for this landmark event.

Scheduled for 7-17 August 2025, the Games will feature over 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries, competing in 35 sports, 61 disciplines, and 254 medal events.

The slogan, Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders, reflects the spirit of The World Games 2025, promising a celebration of sport excellence, cultural diversity, and unforgettable experiences to be lived in Chengdu.

Registration opens in February

Registration for athletes, teams, officials and media will open in February 2025, paving the way for thousands of participants to officially join the journey to Chengdu. Further details on registration will be shared with the various audiences soon.

IWGA President José Perurena said: “With just 200 days remaining, anticipation for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu is growing. This event will showcase incredible talent and diversity, while highlighting Chengdu’s hospitality and know-how. The meticulous planning from the Local Organising Committee ensures this 12th edition of The World Games will be unforgettable. I encourage athletes and four members worldwide to prepare for an extraordinary competition and cultural experience.”

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA).
