Congratulations to Sebastien Peineau, who became World Champion in Compound at 2017 Hyundai World Archery Championship in Mexico in October. He is IWGA Athlete of the Month!
At his first World Games in 2017 the reigning Indoor World Champion only finished 9th, but in October he took back his place at the top of the world by beating The World Games 2017 Champion Stephan Hansen (DEN) in the Outdoor World Championships final!
The 30-year-old lives and trains in France. He started archery in 1994 and made his international debut in 2004. In October, he became France’s first male archer to win the Outdoor World Championships. “I’m still shaking,” Peineau said after the final, showing his hands. “I do not realise it completely, so I’m not crying yet but it will come.”
“If someone had told me before the championships that I would be in the final, I would not have believed it, and now I’m Champion, it’s huge!”
