The explosion of fireworks in the middle of an act that included 400 dancers, 68 musicians and 40 acrobats gave life to an act that rose with the essence of “latin flavor” in this 9th edition of The World Games taking place in Cali.

Colombia’s Vice President opened the event with a brief speech extending his gratitude to the World Games International Association for entrusting Colombia with such an important event. “We will work with love and enthusiasm to insure that this world sporting event is the best one in a long time”, said the president before officially declaring The World Games as open.

The most emotional part of the opening act was the parade of the 101 participating nations that received a ovation from the people of Cali followed by welcome speeches from Rodrigo Ortoya, chairman of the local organizing committee, the President of the International World Games Association, Ron Froehlich and the President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge. Froehlich extended his gratitude to the international federations for their efforts in advancing in the Game’s qualification process and he wished the participants the best luck.
