Our team is fully supported at Municipal and Republican level. The Government of the Russian Federation guarantees that a host city will be given all necessary organizational, financial and other support to follow all the regulatory requirements of IWGA.
Bashkortostan – is a republic with unique natural landscapes, developed industry, historic sites, multinational population and centuries-old cultural traditions. The Republic of Bashkortostan is located in the southern part of the Ural Mountains and adjacent plains, at the border of Europe and Asia.
The total area of the Republic of Bashkortostan makes 143 thousand sq. km or 0.8% of the total area of Russia (27th place among other regions of the country). The population of Bashkortostan comprises about 4.1 million people (ranks the 7th among the regions of Russia). There are 54 administrative districts and 21 cities in Bashkortostan. Ufa, Sterlitamak, Salavat, Neftekamsk and Oktyabrsky are the biggest cities of the Republic. Bashkortostan is a multinational republic, where representatives of more than hundred nationalities live, including Bashkirs, Russians, Tatars, Chuvash, Mari, Ukrainians and Germans. The Bashkirs are the native inhabitants. Common religions in Bashkortostan are Islam, Orthodox Christianity, Baptism and Catholicism.
According to the results of Expert RA agency’s rating, Bashkortostan took the first position in the nomination “Minimum economic risks” and entered the top 10 of the Russian Federation regions with the highest investment potential. The Republic takes the 12th position in the volume of the fixed asset investment among Russian regions and the 3rd position in Volga Federal District.
Much attention is paid to people’s health care, to the development of physical culture and sports. Annually, the construction of new sports centers, swimming pools, gyms, as well as the reconstruction of the ski resorts takes place. Athletes from Bashkortostan competed brilliantly in the National Sports Team of Russia at the Olympic and especially Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi. The construction of Paralympic Training Center, began in Ufa as ordered by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Center is to become the largest specialized sports complex in the country.
In recent years, Ufa - the capital of Bashkortostan - often has become a venue for international events. The Summer Biathlon World Championship was held in Ufa in September 2012, as well as the IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship in December 2012, the VI International Children's Winter Games in March 2013 and the World Hockey Cup in 2014.
In the bid campaign Ufa represents Russia as a candidate to host the 11th World Games in 2021.
The Republic started to prepare for the participation in the bidding campaign to host the World Games in 2011. For this purpose, following the republican government decree, an Autonomous Noncommercial Organization "The 11th World Games 2021 Bid Committee" was established . About 40 people are involved in the Bid Committee at present moment being responsible for different aspects of the bid process.
